## ImportedModelingGroup.create\_imported\_modeling\_ply(name=None, id=None, active=True, offset='bottom', ply\_material=None, ply\_angle=0.0, mesh\_import\_type='from\_geometry', mesh\_geometry=None, rosette\_selection\_method='minimum\_angle', rosettes=\[\], thickness\_definition='nominal', thickness\_field=None, thickness\_field\_type='absolute', draping='no\_draping', angle\_1\_field=None, angle\_2\_field=None, rotation\_angle=0.0)

Create modeling ply.

### Parameters

- name: Name of the new imported modeling ply.
- id: Optional ID of the new imported modeling ply.
- active: Whether the ply is active.
- offset: whether the mesh defines the bottom, middle, or top surface of the ply.
- ply\_material: Ply material (fabric).
- ply\_angle: Angle of the ply material.
- mesh\_import\_type: The source of the imported mesh (‘from\_h5\_composite\_cae’ or ‘from\_geometry’).
- mesh\_geometry: If mesh\_import\_type is from\_geometry, then this geometry defines the surface of the ply.
- rosette\_selection\_method: Method to calculate element orientation. Valid options: ‘minimum\_angle’, ‘maximum\_angle’, ‘minimum\_distance’, : ‘minimum\_angle\_superposed’, ‘minimum\_distance\_superposed’, ‘maximum\_angle\_superposed’, ‘ansys\_classic’, and ‘tabular\_values’.
- rosettes: Rosettes for the imported modeling ply.
- reference\_direction\_field: Table column used to compute reference directions. Only needed if rosette\_selection\_method is tabular\_values.
- thickness\_definition: Enum that describes the method used for thickness definition (the default is nominal).
- thickness\_field: Look-Up table column with scalar values for thickness sampling (optional).
- thickness\_field\_type: The type of thickness field (‘absolute’ or ‘relative’).
- draping: The type of draping to be used (“no\_draping” or “tabular\_values”).
- angle\_1\_field: Look-Up table column with scalar values for angle 1.
- angle\_2\_field: Look-Up table column with scalar values for angle 2.
- rotation\_angle: Angle to rotate the reference directions (in degree).

### Returns

The created imported modeling ply.

### Example

```pycon
>>> modeling_group = db.active_model.create_imported_modeling_group( name='ImportedModelingGroup' )
>>> modeling_group.create_imported_modeling_ply(name='ImportedModelingPly.1', offset='middle', ply_angle=45)
```
