## ModelingGroup.create\_modeling\_ply(name=None, id=None, ply\_material=None, ply\_angle=0.0, number\_of\_layers=1, global\_ply\_nr=None, oriented\_selection\_sets=None, selection\_rules=None, draping='no\_draping', draping\_seed\_point=None, auto\_draping\_direction=True, draping\_thickness\_correction=True, draping\_direction=None, draping\_mesh\_size=0.0, use\_default\_draping\_mesh\_size=True, thickness\_definition='nominal', core\_geometry=None, active=True, taper\_edges=None, thickness\_field=None, thickness\_field\_type='absolute', angle\_1\_field=None, angle\_2\_field=None)

Create modeling ply.

### Parameters

- name: Name of the new modeling ply.
- id: Optional ID of the new modeling ply.
- ply\_material: Ply Material (Fabric, Stackup, SubLaminate).
- ply\_angle: Angle of the ply material.
- number\_of\_layers: Multiplier of this layer.
- global\_ply\_nr: Ply number for stacking sequence.
- oriented\_selection\_sets: Oriented selection set for the expansion of the modeling ply.
- selection\_rules: Element selection rules for the modeling ply.
- draping: The type of draping to be used. Valid options: “no\_draping”, “evaluate\_draping”, and “tabular\_values”.
- draping\_seed\_point: Start/seed point for draping.
- auto\_draping\_direction: Automatically set draping direction (default: ‘True’).
- draping\_direction: Direction to go in draping (default: ‘None’).
- draping\_mesh\_size: Mesh size used for draping.
- use\_default\_draping\_mesh\_size: Whether to use a default size for the draping mesh. Default is the average element size of the shell mesh.
- thickness\_definition: Enum that describes the method used for thickness definition (default: ‘Nominal’).
- core\_geometry: The assigned core geometry.
- active: Modeling ply active.
- taper\_edges: Taper Edges for the modeling ply.
- thickness\_field: Look-Up table column with scalar values for thickness sampling (optional).
- thickness\_field\_type: The type of thickness field. Valid options: ‘absolute’ or ‘relative’.
- angle\_1\_field: Look-Up table column with scalar values for angle 1.
- angle\_2\_field: Look-Up table column with scalar values for angle 2.

### Returns

The created modeling ply.
