## [Ansys Motion for developers](/docs/motion)

## Overview

Ansys Motion™ multibody dynamics simulation software enables fast and accurate analysis of rigid and flexible bodies, and it gives accurate evaluation of physical events through the analysis of the mechanical system as a whole. For more information, see the [Ansys Motion product page](https://www.ansys.com/products/structures/ansys-motion).

The Motion Preprocessor provides a standalone modeling environment for multibody dynamics systems, streamlining the process of preparing models for simulation.

The Motion Postprocessor is a powerful standalone postprocessor that lets you investigate simulation results and export them as numerical data, enabling you to understand the dynamic behavior of your mechanical system more easily.

The **Motion Preprocessor** and **Postprocessor APIs** allow you to build automated processes and integrate with the optimal design tools for your workflow.

Moreover, the **Motion Postprocessor API** also allows you to extract plot data from the Motion software's result files without running postprocessor application, saving time for repeated operations and supporting integration with other library modules.
