Who this is for. You don't need a programming background. What you do need is a basic working knowledge of Ansys Mechanical itself — if you're a simulation engineer who wants to run analyses more efficiently, this is written for you. By the end, you should understand the basics of scripting in Mechanical, pick up some tips and best practices, and have seen simple, practical examples of common tasks.

What this won't cover. It's worth being upfront about scope. This material deliberately does not cover ACT extensions, PyAnsys, scripting outside of Mechanical, advanced Python, or MAPDL scripting.

So what is scripting in Mechanical, concretely? ... for that you'll have to read article 1 below!

  1. Getting started: what scripting in Ansys Mechanical actually is
  2. Your first script: "Hello, Mechanical!" in 10 minutes
  3. Understanding the Mechanical tree
  4. Scripting tips that will save you time
  5. Best practices
  6. Going further: learning resources
